Mental Health Awareness Week, 2025 Successfully concluded

 Our week-long events lined up to commemorate the Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 was successfully concluded on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. The mental health awareness week commenced with our Online Awareness Series where our mental counsellors engaged various audience in delivering talks and counselling on varying mental health topics. This was followed by our Street Vox Pop featuring one-on-one interview with students and passersby on issues bordering on their mental health and their general view about the topic. The responses were very encouraging as many responders courageously opened up on personal mental health concerns just as we shared views on mitigative measures for a sound mental health among the populace. Let's Talk Mental Health: Our Vox Pop on Abuja Streets

We conducted interviews with Abuja residents, gathering their candid thoughts and experiences on mental health.  Their responses were both eye-opening and touching, offering valuable insights into the daily struggles faced by ordinary citizens amidst Nigeria's current economic challenges.

Our Mental Health Bootcamp, 2025

We organized a mental health boot camp where participants could unwind and alleviate stress through expert-led sessions.  The activities included:   Mental health counseling, ⁠Morning fitness exercises, ⁠Dance aerobics, Fun games. This holistic approach aimed to promote emotional well-being and provide tools for managing mental health challenges.  

Advocacy Visit to Hope for Survival Secondary Shool, Abuja

We visited Hope for Survival secondary school in Abuja to raise mental health awareness among students, focusing on its impact on their daily interactions with peers, teachers, and guardians.  The session also covered practical strategies for coping with bullying and other psychological challenges common among young people.  This initiative aimed to promote emotional well-being and resilience among the students.

Health Minister Expresses Delight, Pledges Support As He Receives MHWI Team

The Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate received with delight, the Mental Health Awareness Initiative (MHWi) team in his Abuja office, on Wednesday 14th May, 2025. The visit was informed by the organization's objective to link-up with strategic stakeholders, forge collaborations and build the roadmap for sustainable advocacy for mental Health wellness in Nigeria. The Honourable Minister commended the team for the courage to pursue the social cause of such critical concern, describing it as a veritable tool that could be leveraged to address the mental health challenges across the demography. Professor Pate urged the team to utilize the rising influence of social media to connect the larger populace for a broader impact. He assured the team of the health ministry's cooperation towards achieving their set goals.
